Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage - Is a customized blend of massage and bodywork. Most clients find this style of massage best suited to address specific pain or discomfort patterns caused by acute injury, chronic tension or illness, and the cumulative effects of stress on the mind and body. It incorporates elements of traditional relaxation and deep tissue massage with other tools such as range of motion, stretching, non-circulatory massage, myofascial release, trigger point relief, and sports massage. Sessions are focused on client self-awareness, health history assessment, and education with an emphasis on individualized self-care for each client. The goal of each session is to address each client’s individual goals for the session while enhancing their overall well-being.

Deep Tissue Massage - Is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). This style of massage targets problem areas or specific issues.

Himalayan Salt Stone Massage (75 minute session, $120) - Is a mild healing technique using warm salt crystal stones to ground and balance the body's electromagnetic field, central nervous system and meridians.

Eclectic Massage - Emphasizes the practice of bodywork with a broad, client centered approach, using a combination of multiple modalities, techniques, and perspectives (such as Thai, Shiatsu, Swedish, Reiki, Cupping, etc…) to address many different needs (such as relaxation, tension and pain relief, improving range of motion, etc..). It uses “a little bit of everything” to ensure the client feels better and more whole.

Prenatal Massage Therapy - Is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mom-to-be as her body goes through the transformations of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. The gentle and noninvasive approach of prenatal massage can ease common discomforts associated with pregnancy, help the expectant mother prepare for labor and give her nurturing emotional support during this wonderful and incredible time in her life!

During the massage, the expectant mother is comfortably supported with pillows or cushions. In later months of pregnancy, the massage is performed in side-lying and/or reclined positions. Common Benefits of Prenatal Massage:

• Facilitates hormonal, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, and other physiological processes during pregnancy

• Reduce muscle cramps and painful trigger points • Relieve pain the muscles and joints of your legs, low back, and upper back

• Increase flexibility making it easier for your body to adjust to a changing shape • Reduce blood pressure

• Reduce excess fluid retention • Reduce varicose vein development and pain • Relieve headaches

• Relaxes the nervous system • Improves sleep • Decreases anxiety/depression associated with hormonal changes during pregnancy

• Fosters nurturing maternal touch.

Postpartum Massage  - Is therapeutic massage designed specifically for the postpartum woman’s needs. It is just as important to care for oneself in the postpartum period as it is during pregnancy! Massage can help with the physical demands of caring for a newborn by reducing tension and increasing energy. If breastfeeding, a relaxing massage can assist with milk letdown by decreasing tension that may inhibit it. Emotionally, massage can nurture and comfort the postpartum woman through the new challenges of motherhood, whether or not she is experiencing postpartum “blues.” When to schedule the first appointment will depend on labor and delivery details, and what the health care provider and massage therapist feel is best.
